WARD WOOLNER

“I was a late starter to painting. At 48 years of age I stood in front of my first blank canvas. Oh no! What do I do now? After sixteen years, I am feeling much more at ease, and have figured out how to get the inside out. Every time I start a new painting, it's a new adventure with no map or intended direction. I can now say I am a full-fledged addict to these adventures. I hope my work brings a smile to all that takes a glance.”

Ward Woolner is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

"A work of art is only of interest, in my opinion, when it is an immediate and direct projection of what is happening in the depth of a person's being.. ..It is my belief that only in this Art Brut can we find the natural and normal processes of artistic creation in their pure and elementary state."

-Jean Dubuffet, Abstract Artist. Founder of the Art Brut movement.
